Kathryn Bernice Kendall

Kathryn Kendall (87) of Mt. Hope entered into eternal rest on June 13, 2026, following a long illness.

She was born on Nov. 29, 1938, in Holmes County to Otis B. and Florence B. (Cullen) McClure.  She was married to Byron (Toots) Kendall for 54 years. He preceded her in death in 2016.  Kathryn attended Berlin High School worked at Hawkins in Wooster, Rodhe’s IGA in Millersburg and retired from Smith Grocery Store in Wooster, where she served as a Front-End Manager.

Kathryn & Byron shared a love for animals and opened their hearts to many beloved cats and dogs throughout the years. They are also know for spending countless hours tending to her family's cemetery plots and their unwavering support for our troops.

She is survived by her nephew, Craig McClure of Wooster and his wife Michelle, and their children, Dustin and Victoria.

Kathryn was blessed beyond words by the kindness of the people of Mt. Hope. From checking in on her and bringing meals to making repairs to her home and even her barn when they were needed most, so many people cared for and supported her in her final years.  Our family is deeply grateful to everyone who brought her comfort and helped her in times of need

In addition to her husband, Byron, Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents  and her brothers, Olen B. and Kenneth M. McClure..

A Celebration of Life will be held at Parkview Christian Church in Wooster, Ohio, on July 12, 2026, at 2 to 4 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project to honor Veterans or Wayne or Holmes County Humane Society in remembrance of Kathryn's love for animals.
