June I. Nettleton

June I. Nettleton left this earthly life and entered God’s eternal realm on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026.

She was born on June 13, 1932, in Sterling, Ohio to Earl and Esther (Showalter) Miller and was the fourth daughter in her family of seven girls. June graduated from Smithville High School in 1950. She was a secretary in the area for several years and had lived in Chicago for a year where she taught English to a group of 20 Chinese ladies. June traveled to their homes all over Chicago.

On November 14, 1954 she married her high school sweetheart, James Nettleton and they enjoyed 71 years together. June enjoyed being a homemaker and was dedicated to raising her children. She sewed for her family as the children were growing up and she made many bowls of apple sauce which was a family favorite. June was a faithful member of Wooster Grace Brethren Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She also served on the Hospitality Committee at the church. She and Jim enjoyed visiting shut-ins and prayed often for family, the sick, missionaries and those not saved.

June is survived by two of her four children, Edward and wife Susan Nettleton of Sterling and Sara and husband Ralph Waggoner of Norton. There are eight grandchildren and spouses, Brandon and Lyndsey Nettleton of Sterling, Kayela and Nate Garver of Apple Creek, Brock and Megan Nettleton of Orrville, Alexander and Mary Kate Waggoner of Middlebranch, Bethany Waggoner of Doylestown, Catherine and Wyatt Cluff of Marion, Daniel Waggoner of Norton and Emmeline and Noah Doty of Wooster and six great-grandchildren, Audrey, Ally and Avery Nettleton, Timothy and Emilee Garver and Jack Nettleton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James on Dec. 18, 2025, daughters, Colleen Nettleton and Elaine Ressler and by her six sisters, infant Doris Miller, Arlene Heiks, Donna Rehm, Martha Zimmerly, Emilie Bogner and Ruth Ann Miller.

Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 4th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Tom Peters officiating. Burial will be private at Paradise Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, Wayne Co.
