Joyce Marie Lanier July 25, 1948 - December 3, 2016 Obituary: Joyce M. Lanier, 68, of West Salem, went Home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland following a unexpected illness. Joyce was born July 25, 1948 in Ronceverte, W.Va. to the late Lloyd and Evelyn (Baker) Lane and was a 1966 graduate of Medina High School. One Nov. 12, 1966 she married Charles C. Lanier and together they recently celebrate 50 years of marriage. She had been a teacher’s aide at Norwayne Local Schools for 12 years where she had also been an assistant cheerleader advisor. Joyce was a member of Emmanuel Chapel Baptist Church at Bailey Lakes and had made her home at Cinnamon Lake for the past 20 years previously residing on Doylestown Road near Seville. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and being with and spoiling her grandchildren. Joyce will be greatly missed. Surviving are her husband; children, Amy (Joel) Montgomery of Wooster, Angela Stephens and Abby (Chris) Schwartz both of Burbank and Chris (Erika) Lanier of Arteaga, Mexico; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Edwards and Virginia Horner both of Medina and a brother, Bob Lane of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jim Lane and a grandchild. Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 6th at 12:00 noon at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Albert Page officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 until services at 12:00.
