Jonathan Ray Barker

Jonathan Ray Barker, 36, of Creston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, with his wife by his side after a courageously fought battle with cancer.

Jon was born on August 29, 1987, in Wooster to his parents, Robert and Virginia (Frase) Barker. Jon was a graduate of Smithville Highschool and would go on to graduate from the University of Akron with a bachelor’s degree in business management. After college Jon would go to work for NetOps Consulting as a project manager.  On June 8, 2019, Jon married Meagan Balogh and made their home in Creston. Jon was a member of the Canaan Freewill Baptist Church and in his free time he enjoyed hunting, building guns, and being outdoors. However, his greatest joy was playing with his kids and being with his family who will remember him most for being an amazing husband and dad.

Surviving is his wife, Meagan; children Alexis, Owyn, and Jace; father, Robert Barker of Smithville; sister, Jackie Barker of Wooster; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Andrea Balogh of Wooster; brother-in-law Nathan (Kimberly) Balogh of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Kelly (Ian) Moore of Avon Lake, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Barker.

Services will be on Saturday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Canaan Freewill Baptist Church, 12723 Cleveland Rd, Creston with Pastor Aaron Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Smithville Cemetery for family and close friends. Friends may call on Friday, July 19 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Church.
