John Russell Winkler

John Russell Winkler, 60, of Rittman, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 after a 6 month battle with cancer.

John was born in Oct. 23, 1956 in Wadsworth to John and Gladys (Blough) Winkler and married the former Tina L. Clason on July 28, 1984. She survives. He graduated from Rittman High School in 1976 and had worked at Shells Inc. in Wadsworth for 30 years. John was a member of Eastern Road Church of God where he served as an usher and enjoyed playing cards and family gatherings. John was a devoted to his family and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Tina; son, Gary Winkler of the home; his mother, Gladys Winkler of Rittman; sisters and brothers, Cathy Barnes of Rittman, Linda (Larry) Moser of Wadsworth, Jim (Cathy) Winkler of Rittman and Jerry (Opal) Winkler of Rittman; many nieces and nephews and an uncle, Fred Blough of Rittman.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be Wednesday, April 19th at 6:00 p.m. at Eastern Road Church of God, 2600 Eastern Road, Rittman, where friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until time of services. Rev. The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of Summa Hospice at Home, Dr. Clifford and to the staff at the Infusion Center for the wonderful care given to John during his illness.
