John C, Morgan, 88, of Sterling, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at AtlerCare of Wadsworth after a period of declining health.
John was born in Arnoldsburg, WV on Oct. 2, 1937, to Arthur and Tressie (Whytsell) Morgan. He graduated from Grantsville High School and served in the Army Reserves from 1955 – 1963. John retired from Vaca-matic in Wadsworth and had worked at PPG in Barberton for 30 years. On June 10, 1989, he married Wanda F. King and she survives. John had made his home in Rittman and in Sterling for many years and attended Ambassador Baptist Church in Wadsworth. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, gardening and tinkering and repairing small engines and motors. He always enjoyed times with his family and he will be truly missed.
Surviving is his wife, Wanda; his children and their spouses, Larry and Cindy Morgan, Debbie and Bob Vincent and John and Joan Morgan; 8 grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie and Braden Markevich, Cheyanne and Nathan Simon, Emily Morgan, Danielle and Joshua Wheeler, Katelyn Vincent, Caleb and Hannah Vincent, Joanna and Chris Hinton and Jacob and Emily Morgan and 10 great-grandchildren. Wanda’s family that he welcomed into as his own, sons, Mike and his wife Valerie Lycans and Todd Lycans and Tracy Kovacs; son-in-law, Danny Underwood; granddaughters, Amber and her husband Jeffrey Trost and Heather Lycans and 4 great-grandchildren. He also survived by a brother, Jim and his wife Sharon Morgan and a step-sister, Barbara Goodman as well as nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by a son, Mike Morgan; granddaughter, Sara Morgan; step-grandson, Brett Lycans, his parents, Arthur and Tressie Morgan, step-mother, Geneva Morgan; sister, Helen Scarpellini, brother, Ronnie Morgan and step-sister, Ruth Wilson.
Services will be Monday, July 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Dakota Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Sterling Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Monday.
