JoEtta Sheppard, 74, of Sterling went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 after a period of declining health.
JoEtta was born on Aug. 17, 1950 in Lodi and was the daughter of Gerald “Jerry” and Betty (Buckingham) Schorle. She graduated from Norwayne High School in 1968 and on June 28, 1969 married Frederick C. Sheppard who survives. JoEtta had worked at Morton Salt in Rittman, Nabisco Brands in Seville and then retired from Norwayne Local Schools after 26 years, having worked at Sterling Elementary and Norwayne High School. She was a member of Crossroads Assembly of God in Creston and a former member of Sterling Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary. JoEtta loved baking cookies by the dozens and sharing them with the neighborhood. You could find her gardening, mowing and doing yard work on any summer day.
Surviving is her husband, Fred; her two children, Todd and his wife Catherine Sheppard of Cleveland and Tonya Hartwell of Sterling; 7 grandchildren, Spencer, Logan, Ayden, Katie, Nathan, Evelyn and Lukas; her mother, Betty Schorle and sisters, Mary Prinkey of Burbank and Denee Schorle of Seville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry, in 2022, along with her brothers-in-law, Robin Prinkey in 2024 and David Flaker in 2022.
Services will be Saturday, April 19th at 1:30 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Mike Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Sterling Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 -1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Assembly of God, 10220 Wooster Pike, Creston, OH 44217.
