Joe A. Swartzentruber, 85, of Wooster, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at Glendora Health Care Center after a period of declining health.
Joe was born Jan. 2, 1933 near Fredericksburg to the late Andy S. and Amanda (Wengerd) Swartzentruber and had been a truck driver for many years having worked for Georgia Pacific. He had made his home in the Wayne County area most of his life and enjoyed music, playing the guitar and mandolin and woodworking.
Surviving are his children, Pamela Stutz of Navarre, Glenn (Melissa) Swartzentruber of Atlasburg, PA, Gregory Swartzentruber of Verona, PA and Andrea (Mike) Uhler of Virginia Beach, VA; 10 grandchildren and 7great-grandchildren; step-children, Sheila (Ed) Lieberth of Wadsworth, Nora (Jim) Stackpole of Columbia, VA and Eric Field of Rutherfordton, NC; a sister, Mary Barkman of Walnut Creek, many nieces and nephews and his companion and dear friend, Donna Bachman of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora Mae Pipher Swartzentruber on Jan. 5, 1994, a daughter, Peggy Jo Ippisch; a grandson; brothers, Ammon and Eli and a sister, Nettie Christner.
Services will be Monday, Jan. 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg where friends will be received one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery at a later date. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
