Jody Lynn Armstrong, 50, of Wooster passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, after living with breast cancer for the past four years.
Jody was born in Ravenna on Feb. 24, 1976, to Kenneth and Virginia (Boyle) Swauger. Kenneth died when Jody was 7 years old, and her mother later married James Simms who later adopted Jody and her sister, Amy. Jody graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1994 and from Grove City College in Pennsylvania in 1998 with a degree in Spanish and Christian Ministries. While at Grove City College she played basketball and soccer and in 2014 was inducted in the Athletic Hall of Fame. Jody used her education for several years, having been a translator for doctors on mission trips to the Dominican as well as teaching Spanish. For the past 20 years, Jody worked as an Ophthalmic Technician at the Wooster Eye Center which she truly loved and enjoyed.
On Nov. 14, 1998, she married Mark Richard Armstrong and was a loving wife and mother her daughter and son. Jody was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Sterling.
Surviving is her husband, Mark; daughter, Sarah Beth Armstrong who attends Liberty University; son, Luke Robert Armstrong who will be an 8th grader at Norwayne; her parents, James and Virginia Simms of Kent; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tania and Mike Unger of Clinton and Amy and Charlie Redman of Ravenna and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Roxanne Armstong of Wooster.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth and a sister, Melissa Terry.
Services will be Saturday, June 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7605 Pleasant Home Rd., Sterling, OH with Pastor Jeff Dilyard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family in care of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
