Jerry Jay Stutzman

April 6, 1942 — October 12, 2021

Fredericksburg

Mr. Jerry “Stutzy” Jay Stutzman, Sr. died unexpectedly but peacefully in his home on October 12, 2021 in Fredericksburg, Ohio at the age of 79.

Jerry is survived by his children: Tammy and her husband John Stoltzfus of Whitesville, NY, and Linette and her husband Scott Hochstedler of Fredericksburg, OH, and his siblings, Dennis Paul and Sue (Holland) Stutzman of Chouteau, OK and Joseph Enos and Charlotte (Holland) of Inola, OK. He is also survived by 8 living grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Janet Lee Barkman, son Jerry Jay Jr., parents Enos J. and Ruby (Loewen) Stutzman, brother Stanley Harry Stutzman, and granddaughter Janet Elizabeth Stoltzfus.

Jerry was born on April 6, 1942 in Pryor, OK to Enos J. and Ruby (Loewen) Stutzman. He graduated from Inola High School in 1960 and then served in 1-W service in Cleveland, OH. While in Ohio Jerry met his lifelong sweetheart Janet, whom he married June 1, 1962 and within 3 years God blessed them with their 3 children, Tammy, Wendy (Linette), and Jay. While the children were young, Jerry and Janet moved their family to Sarasota, Fla where they stayed until 2008 when they returned to Ohio to live near their daughter Linette in Fredericksburg, OH.

Jerry was an avid fixer; he could fix just about anything, even when his wife thought it didn’t need fixing, and he had the tools to prove it! He took various courses and classes throughout the course of his life to increase his knowledge and abilities. Besides being missed for his handiness and expertise at general know-how, Jerry will be missed as a loving dad, grandad, gr. grandad, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor. He was a rock; a dependable, solid individual who marched to the beat of deeply held values that informed his decisions and caused him to persevere even through great difficulty and disappointment. Jerry’s life is a legacy of faith in our God Who is very good and faithful, and Who will work out all things for the good of those who trust Him.

Community calling hours are scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Friday, October 22nd, at Murray Funeral Home, 249 S Mill St, Fredericksburg, OH 44627. A family funeral is scheduled for the following day.
