Jeffery Dean Shearer, 59, of Wooster, passed away at Akron General Hospital on Wednesday July 17, 2024, with his wife and family by his side for the past five days after an accident left him unconscious and on life support.
Jeff was born on June 28, 1965, in Wooster, OH to Robert “Bob” and Dorothy (Buranuk) Shearer. Jeff was a graduate of Northwestern Highschool in 1984. He then worked as a butcher for Hanzie Meats in Creston for many years and after their closing would own the Butcher Block and then the Lone Star Butcher Shop. Most recently he was butchering for Heffelfinger Meats in Ashland. On June 26, 1999, he married Tamara “Tammy” Gunn (Morrison), and for the past 25 years they have made their home in the Wooster area. In his free time he enjoyed watching the Browns football games, his favorite player was Bernie Kosar. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his and Tammy’s children, family and friends. He was a hard worker often working 10-hour days but always found time to be a great husband, father, and friend.
Jeff is survived by his wife Tammy; children Corey Shearer of Akron, Michael Huffman of Wooster, Heather (Zach) Johnson of Wooster, and Emily Shearer of Wooster; Parents Robert and Dorothy Shearer of Wooster, Father and mother-in-law Kent and Jann Morrison of Wooster; sisters Debbie Snow of Redhaw and Linda (Greg) Klomfahs of Wooster; brother Eric Shearer of Wooster; grandchildren RennaDel Huffman, Kennaline Johnson, Kamden and Karden Johnson, Koreena Johnson, and Jobey Lehman; many nieces and nephews who he loved very much; and his previous wife Karen Armstrong.
He was preceded in beath by his brother Mark Shearer; his grandparents; brothers-in-law Jim Snow and Carl Pakish; and a grandson Eden Lane Asbury Shearer.
Services will be Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Scott Fetter and Shawn Twardzik officiating. Burial will be in Hazzard Cemetery in West Salem, OH. After graveside services a lunch will be held at Smithville Brethren Church, 193 E Main St. Smithville OH. Friends may call Monday from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made in care of the funeral home.
