Jeffrey Plumer

Jeff Plumer, of Seville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous journey with Parkinson’s disease.

Born on April 30, 1946, in Niagara Falls, New York, Jeff was the son of the late Evelyn and Mike Plumer. From an early age, he embodied the values that would define his life — hard work, dedication, service, and unwavering devotion to family and community.

He attended Thiel College before graduating from The University of Akron, where he was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. It was at the Akron University bookstore, 58 years ago, that he met the love of his life, Patricia. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, partnership, laughter, and family.

Following graduation, Jeff began his career in insurance and, in 1974, founded Plumer Insurance Agency. Through decades of service and commitment to his clients and community, he built not only a successful business but lasting relationships and friendships. He retired in 2016, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and dedication.

Community involvement was an important part of Jeff’s life. He proudly served as a Westfield Township Trustee for 12 years and was deeply involved throughout the Seville community. He was a longtime member of the Seville Lions Club, serving for many years as secretary, and also served as secretary and treasurer for the Seville Chamber of Commerce. He was a faithful member of the Seville United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men.

His commitment to service extended far beyond titles. He served as a Boy Scout Master and Indian Guides leader, helping mentor and shape young lives, and also served on the board for Feeding Medina County, always looking for ways to support and strengthen his community.

Above all else, Jeff loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy came from the people he loved most.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Plumer; daughters Jennifer (Jim) Harris and Melissa King; grandchildren Erin (Christopher) Coughlin, Grant Harris, and Tyler Harris; and his beloved great-granddaughter Dorothy “Dottie,” affectionately known to him as “my little pumpkin.” He is also survived by his sister Deborah (Jim) Vidi Vittie; sister-in-law Donna Campbell; many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends; and a very special little companion, Lilabit, his loyal service animal.

Outside of work and community service, Jeff had a lifelong passion for cars and auto racing. He loved spending summers at Mid-Ohio races, traveling to Canada for Formula 1 events, and enjoying time in Florida. Those who knew him knew how much joy he found in engines, racing, and the camaraderie that came with them.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all of the caregivers who walked alongside them throughout Jeff’s Parkinson’s journey, offering compassion, dignity, and support during difficult days. They would also like to thank everyone who prayed for Jeff and the family during this journey. Your love, prayers, kindness, and support were deeply felt and brought comfort during an incredibly difficult time.

Services will be Sunday, June 7th at 4:00 p.m. at Seville United Methodist Church with Rev. David McGrath officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at 4:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Seville Mound Hill Cemetery. Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Seville United Methodist Church, PO Box 32, Seville, Ohio 44273.

Jeff’s life was one of service, loyalty, kindness, and love — and his impact will continue to live on in all who knew him.
