Jean Emma (Becker) Culligan

Jean Emma Culligan, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Broadway Creek Senior Living Center in Medina where she had made her home for the past eight and a half years.

Jean was born in Cleveland on Sept. 27, 1942 to Fred and Anna Marie (Finkbeiner) Becker.  She was married to Robert A. Culligan for 36 years until his death on Feb. 12, 2007.  She graduated from Cleveland West High School and Baldwin Wallace College and received her Master’s Degree in Education.  Jean had taught 3rd grade in Miami Dade Public Schools for 30 years and had made her home in Paisley Florida until returning to Ohio.  She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.   Jean loved music, having played the violin and was an avid reader.  She loved animals and her beloved pets were her kids.

Surviving are her nephews and niece James (Shannon) Harvey,  Katherine Power, and John (Janell) Harvey. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and James Harvey.

A family gathering will be held.  In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean's name to the American Alzheimer's Association.
