JB Lytle, 92, of Fredericksburg, passed away at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019 after a period of declining health.

John Boyer Lytle was born in Fredericksburg on Aug. 25, 1927 to George B. and Bertha (Gilt) Lytle and was a 1945 graduate of Fredericksburg High School.  While attending Dennison University he served in the U.S. Navy during WW II from June 23, 1945 – Aug. 12, 1946 and graduated from Dennison in 1950.  On Aug. 24, 1949 he married the former Marianne Smith and together they shared 70 years of marriage.  JB retired from West Holmes High School in 1985 after 22 years and had made his home in Fredericksburg all of his life.  He served on the Fredericksburg Fire Dept. for 50 years, was a member of the Fredericksburg American Legion Post 651 for 73 years and was a member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge 528 F. & A.M.  JB volunteered at the Fredericksburg Library by covered hundreds books.  He was well known for his woodworking skills and made many gifts for family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Marianne are his sons and daughters-in-law, Skip and Julie Lytle and Mark and Janet Lytle both of Millersburg; grandchildren, Justin Hart, Kristin (Justin) Vermillion, Adrienne (Scott) Frazee, Alyssa (Zack) Gillum, Amy (Kris) Dill, Erin (Kyle) Hall and Alex Lytle; 7 great-grandchildren; a niece, Sally (Bob) Nester and a nephew, David (Carol) Lytle.

He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Jeff Hart; his parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Florence Lytle and a sister, Dr. Nancy A. Lytle.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Jan. 4th at 12:00 noon at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Pastor Wes McElravy officiating.  Masonic Services will be conducted prior to the services at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery.  There will be no calling hours.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-home.com  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fredericksburg Library, 108 S. Mill St., Fredericksburg, OH 44627.  The family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff of Sycamore Run Care Center and Pomerene Hospital for the excellent care given to JB.
