FREDERICKSBURG - Janet L. (Barkman) Stutzman was born in Geauga County, OH on Sept. 24, 1942 and passed into glory on August 1, 2018 at her home in Fredericksburg. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry J. Stutzman Sr. and two daughters, Tammy K. who is married to John P. Stoltzfus of Whitesville, NY and Linette who is married to Scott D. Hochstedler of Fredericksburg. She is also survived by 11 living grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Janet in 2001, her dad, William Barkman in 2005, her Mom, Cora (Detweiler) Barkman in 2008, her brother, John-Mark in 2012 and her son, Jerry Jay Stutzman Jr. in 2014.
As a teenager, she contacted rheumatic fever and as a result had 3 major open heart surgeries throughout her life. She taught Sunday School and was not shy about sharing her love of Jesus with those around her. Janet loved to serve people and cooked amazing food. She had a great sense of humor and a huge generous heart in giving to others. Her passion for the things of God was unmistakable and an encouragement to many. At the end of her life, she suffered from congestive heart and renal failure. As she took her last breaths, her eyes widened in wonder and she reached up with her left hand as though gripping the hand of Jesus. She will be greatly missed but we celebrate with her as she enters the heavenly realm where God dwells.
