James Ronald Woodward, Sr.

James Ronald “Woody Woodward Sr., 84, of Wooster, passed away at home on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

Jim was born on May 14, 1941, to Charles and Margaret (Shaffer) Woodward of Creston and was a 1959 graduate of Norwayne High School. He married Phyllis Ramsier and together they had two sons, Ronnie and Tony. He later married Carolyn E. Alexander, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 12, 2019. “Woody” worked at International Paper in Wooster for 46 years and was a lifetime member of the Wooster Eagles where he had many friends. Jim enjoyed over the years, golfing, hunting, fishing and following local sports that included Norwayne, Ohio State and Cleveland teams.

Surviving are his sons, James Ronald Woodward Jr. and his wife, Kim of Rittman and Anthony Andrew Woodward of Wooster; grandchildren, Megan Ramsey Woodward, Marissa Carol Ramsey, Andrew James Edward Woodward, Ryan Douglas Woodward and Jakeb Evan Woodward; great-grandchildren, Sidney and Grant Ramsey, Olver Kane and Rita Torres and his brother, Tom and his wife, Karen Woodward of Wooster.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, former wife Phyllis, daughter-in-law, Andrea Woodward and his parents.

At Jim’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the Fraternal Order of Eagles #811, 231 Beall Ave., Wooster, OH 44691.
