James Rolland Vannoy, 57, of Sterling, passed away unexpectedly with his wife Gina at his side on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Jim was born on Nov. 18, 1967 in Medina and was a 1987 graduate of Norwayne High School. On April 17, 2024 he married Gina Marie Santillo whom he had shared the past 10 years with and for the last 27 years Jim worked at Morton Salt in Rittman where he was the Union Steward. He had made his home in the Creston the area all of his life and had served for 20 years on the Creston Fire Department. Jim enjoyed gardening, playing golf and traveling to historical places. Jim loved his dogs. Gus, Belle, Grover and the late Mojo and he was a proud father of his two children, Josh and Emily.
Surviving is his wife, Gina; his son, Joshua James Vannoy who is severing in the U.S. Navy and stationed in Norfolk, VA and his daughter, Emily Faith Vannoy; step-son, Michael Santillo serving in the U.S. Navy and stationed in Japan and step-daughter, Angela Weiss; his mother, Pauline Carol Hatfield; sisters, Romana and her husband Rick Wellman and Georgiana Vannoy; nieces and nephews, Noah (Tara) Wellman, Alisha Wellman, Kelsey (Colt) Quillen, Zachary (Rachael) Vannoy and Morgan (Brandon) Wells and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 30th from 1-5 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where services will be held at 5:00 p.m.
