James Edward Snell

James Edward Snell, 71, of Sterling, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, after a brief illness.

Jim was born on Feb. 23, 1955, in Wadsworth to Clifford P. and Martha M. (Hoskinson) Snell and was a 1973 graduate of Chippewa High School. On June 9, 1979, he married the love of his life, Kimbelry L. Shannon and together they shared nearly 47 years of marriage. Jim retired from Wabtec Westinghouse, formerly known as Durox Equipment in Strongsville after 43 years of service. Jim made his home in Rittman and Sterling all of his life, and enjoyed bowling, gardening and tinkering around the house.

Jim will be greatly missed by his wife, Kim; brother-in-law, John Kelley; nephew and nieces, Troy (Penny) Snell; Jonna (Patrick) Ritchie, Misty Snell, Stasia (Chris) Jackson and Shonda Moore; and great-nephews, Chase (Emily) Ritchie and Joseph Ritchie.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William Snell and a sister-in-law, Alice Yoakem.

There will be a private family services held later. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any Veterans Charitable Fund or any Children’s Fund in his memory.
