James “Rocky” Rokovitz, 65, of Wooster, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 at his home after a yearlong battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 8, 1951 in Euclid to the late Edward and Tillie (Gawronski) Rokovitz and married the former Jeanette Elliott on June 19, 1971. She survives. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1970 and served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 8, 1971 – May 9, 1975 having been stationed in Germany. He had been a certified welder and had worked HVAC industry and at the PCA in Rittman, Kidron Electric and LuK in Wooster. He was a member of Crossroads Assembly of God in Creston and made his home in the Rittman and Wooster areas most of his life. Jim enjoyed hunting, reading and WW II History. He was an all-around putterer and tinkerer and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette; children, Sandi (Jeremy) Detwiler of Wooster and Dale (April) Rokovitz of Rittman; 4 grandchildren, Jordan and Alli Detwiler, Kayla Shue and Christopher Hottle; brother, Ronnie (Charlene) Rokovitz of Idaho; sisters-in-law, Cindy Rokovitz of Denver and Marie Elliott of New York and brother-in-law, Lee Elliott of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eddie Rokovitz.
Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Assembly of God in Creston with Pastors Mike Boggs and John Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 3-7 p.m. at the church.
