James R. “JR” Raber, 59, of Creston, passed away at home on Saturday evening, March 21, 2026, from an apparent heart attack after spending a wonderful evening with his family.
Jim was born on Jan. 8, 1967, in Millersburg to Raymond and Sarah Ann (Miller) Raber and married Tammy Sue Gill on Nov. 11, 1989. He had worked at Quality Block/Medina Supply for 27 years and for the past 15 years he worked at PT Tech-Timken as a Facilities Manager. Jim was a great handy man who enjoyed doing yard work and planting flowers around his home. He loved hunting, going to the dirt track races and watching sports which include Norwayne and Cleveland teams. His greatest enjoyment was family vacations and family times that included playing cards and being with his grandson, Oliver.
Surviving is his wife, Tammy; children, Christopher and his wife Megan ‘MJ” Raber of Burbank and Megan Raber of Creston and her boyfriend, William Hutchinson; his grandson, Oliver Raber; brother Fritz and his wife Diane Raber of Dundee; sisters, Cindy and her husband Dave Stefanski of Wooster and Esther Raber of Berlin; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Judy and Ed Gill of Creston; brother-in-law, Mike and his wife Shannon Gill of Creston and many nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marie Breem and Betty Hershberger and brothers-in-law, Robbie Breem, Jack Cooper and Roger Raber.
Services will be Friday, March 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p. m. at the funeral home.
