James G. Nettleton, age 93, of Wooster went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Jim was born on February 5, 1932, at the Crandall House in Wooster to L.B. and Nelle (Gill) Nettleton. He was raised on a farm near Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School in 1950. He was active in FFA and earned the FFA State Degree.
On Nov. 14, 1954, he married June (Miller) Nettleton, and they had 71 wonderful years together. Jim graduated from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana in 1961 with a degree in education. He taught in the Wadsworth City School from 1961 – 1978. Jim was involved in John Deere Equipment sales until his retirement in 1997 having worked for McIlvaine Equipment, Barker Equipment and Shearer Equipment.
He is survived by his wife, June; two of their four children, Edward and wife Susan Nettleton of Sterling and Sara and husband Ralph Waggoner of Norton. There are eight grandchildren and spouses, Brandon and Lyndsey Nettleton of Sterling, Kayela and Nate Garver of Apple Creek, Brock and Megan Nettleton of Orrville, Alexander and Mary Kate Waggoner of Middlebranch, Bethany Waggoner of Doylestown, Catherine and Wyatt Cluff of Marion, Daniel Waggoner of Norton and Emmeline and Noah Doty of Wooster and six great-grandchildren, Audrey, Ally and Avery Nettleton , Timothy and Emilee Garver and Jack Nettleton.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Colleen Nettleton and Elaine Ressler; his parents and a sister Ruth Marjorie Bowman.
Jim was a faithful member of Grace Brethren Church in Wooster for many years. He held several offices and taught Sunday School classes. He enjoyed visiting shut-ins and helped with ministry at the Wayne County Care Center for 30 years.
Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Billy Starkey officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Gideon Bibles may be made to Gideons International, Wayne Co. West, Ohio Camp, PO Box 794, Wooster, OH 44691.
