James Johnson, 82, of Westfield Township, Ohio passed away on November 7th peacefully after a valiant battle with bladder cancer.
James was born on February 5, 1938 to Weaver and Jessie Johnson in Cleveland, OH. After graduating from North Royalton High School in 1956, he went on to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years.
James married Patricia (Lang) Johnson, and had three children, Janine Ontolchik (Jeff), Daniel (Cindy) and Jeffrey (Loni). James cherished his time with his four grandchildren, Gabrielle, Laci, Weston and Vena.
James worked for 35 years as a sales/engineer in the motive power and stationary battery industry for Exide Batteries and later Yuasa. James was the recipient of multiple sales national awards and salesman of the year recognition awards. As a result, James and Patricia enjoyed many performance awards trips to Italy, France and other destinations.
After retiring in 1998, James spent his time doing woodworking in his home woodshop, working on his Camaro and drag racing at Dragway 42, and spending time with his 4 grandchildren.
A private burial with Military Honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
