James Forrest Eby, 85, of Seville, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at a lengthy battle with Huntington’s Disease.
Jim was born in Wadsworth on July 25, 1937 to Ralph Forrest and Bernice (Edis) Eby and was a 1955 graduate of Seville High School. On Nov. 3, 1956 he married Mary Lou Fair and they shared over 66 wonderful years together. He retired from Morton Salt after 43 years of service and had made his home in Seville all of his life. A faithful member of the Seville United Methodist Church, Jim had been a Sunday School Teacher for teens and adults, served as Lay Leader, was the church custodian for many years, volunteered with Operations Homes and was a member of the Men’s Group. He was active in the Seville Community where he had been a Little League Coach, had served on the Board of Public Affairs, and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Historical Society. Jim enjoyed fishing and had a great love for sports.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Lou; sons and daughters-in-law, David Eby of Grove City, Greg and Lucinda Eby of Lodi and Chris and Velvet Eby of Westfield Center; 5 grandchildren, Angela John, Heath (Sarah) Alan and Chase and brothers and sister-in-law, Bob Eby of Medina and Walter and Jean Eby of Seville.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian, his parents and a brother, Jeff Eby.
Services will be Monday, March 13th at 11:00 a.m. at the Seville United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Kuntz and Don Trigg officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Sunday, from 2-5 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Seville United Methodist Church, 74 W. Main St., Seville, OH 44273. Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements. The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Crossroads Hospice for all their love and support given to Jim and the family over the past year.
