Ivadell Schar, age 100, of Creston, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025 after a period of declining health.
She was born on March 25, 1924 in Clark, Coshocton County and given the name Doris Ivadell by her parents, Charles Glen and Ethel I. (Lanham) Casey. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1942 and had worked at the Airforce Field in Texas, as a Rosie the Rivetter and at the Goodyear Airfield in Akron during WW II. On Feb. 2, 1944 she married Allen Schar and they settled on their farm on Pleasant Home Road where they raised their two sons. Ivadell loved to work, having enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, crocheting and entertaining. She enjoyed corresponding with family and friends and was a faithful member of Creston Presbyterian Church.
Surviving is her son, Rodney and his wife Connie Schar of Bloomville; grandchildren Benjamin and his wife Casey Schar and Lindsay Schar and great-grandchildren, Xander, Alaina, Easton and Owen; a niece, Sharon and Don Battig of Wooster and a nephew, Larry and Carolyn Casey of North Canton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan on April 24, 2006; son, Kyle Schar on July 11, 2016; grandson, Jason Schar on Nov. 30, 2023 and a brother, George Lawrence Casey.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 which is Ivadell’s birthday at 2:00 p.m. at Creston Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Jackson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canaan Twp. Fire and Rescue, PO Box 2223, Creston or to Creston Presbyterian Church, 13070 Cleveland Rd., Creston, OH 44217.
