Obituary:

Howard J. “Cy” Herman, 90, of Wooster, died Sunday evening, Jan. 1, 2017 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a briefacuteillness. Cy was born June 28, 1926 at Hermanville south of Creston to the late Howard and Hazel (Shumaker) Herman.He was a member of Creston High School Class of 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 during WW II and served from March 15, 1944 – May 27, 1946. He was a member of the VFW Post 1081 in Wooster.He retired froma long-standing employment withBuehlers in Wooster. Cy was a true outdoorsman; heenjoyed golfing, hunting, fishingand foragingforwild mushrooms. Surviving are his sons, Steven B. (Lisa) Herman of Bath and Brenton C. (Jacklyn) Herman of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia; step-daughter, Sharon (Edward) Swartz of Wooster; grandchildren, Jennifer Strelecki, A.Wolfgang Herman, Nanette Harty, Jesika(Carson)Witts, Daniel (Ashley) Herman, Mark Swartz, Amy (John) Pisani, Scott (Huisuk) Swartz and Beth (Mike) Jewell; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Betty Franklin, a grandson, David DiScipio and sisters, Helen Horst, Dorothy Herman, Lucille Tegtmeier and Eleanor Pamer. Services will be Friday, Jan. 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until services on Friday. Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery near the Jackson Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691, ASPCA or a charity of your choice.
