Howard Ullman “Bud” Berry, Jr., 83, of Burbank, passed away quietly on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025.
Bud, was born on Oct. 9, 1942, in Bedford, OH to Howard Sr. and Mary Geneva (Pedigo) Berry and graduated from Bedford High School in 1960. Over the years he enjoyed helping with and attending his class reunions. After high school, it was his love of the sea that led Bud to enlist and serve in the U.S. Navy. He served from Aug. 30, 1960 until being honorably discharged on Oct. 8, 1963. On Aug. 28, 1965, he married Suzette L. “Suzy” Bavec who survives. Bud had worked in the Maintenance Dept. at Gerstenslager’s in Wooster as a carpenter. He could make any item out of wood and had even made a scale model of the Gerstenslager plant. After retiring he had a craft business of creating items out of wood and aluminum that took him to various craft shows all over Northeast, OH. Bud was an avid hunter, fishman and boater and he loved the wildlife in his backyard and to feed the birds. He had made his home near Burbank since 1979 and was a former member of Lodi American Legion Post 523.
Surviving is his wife, Suzy; their three daughters, Sandra Bertschy and Sean O’Brien, Pamela and her husband Bo Morris and Holly Berry and CJ Gunn; and a sister, Patricia and her husband Wallace Murray.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an unborn granddaughter, Geneva Mary Morris.
Graveside committal service and military honors will be held on Monday, Oct. 27th at 10:15 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. A celebration of Bud’s life will be held at a future date.
