Homer Jervis, 86, of Rittman, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, June 23, 2017 after a brief period of failing health.
Homer was born Jan. 8, 1931 in Ferguson, Wayne Co., W.Va. to the late Charles Wesley and Nellie (Wallace) Jervis and had his home in Rittman since 1968. He had worked as a auto mechanic for many years before working for the City of Rittman in the Water and Sewer Dept. He was still active in setting up for flee markets which he loved to do and in his younger years he enjoyed racing cars at Drag Way 42 and at the Lion Drag Strip in California.
Surviving are his children, Charles (Patricia) Fortner of Dayton, Evelyn Bealer of Norton and Thomas (Loretta) Jervis of Rittman; 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Jervis of West Virginia; a sister, Paula Estes of Smithville and his former wife, Opal Fortner Jervis of Rittman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Ronald Bealer, brothers, Claude, Wallace, James, Jack, John and Clifford Jervis and a sister, Oma Wellman.
Services will be Wednesday, June 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
