Henry Charles Palmer Jr.

Henry Charles Palmer Jr., 67, of Rittman, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016 after winning his fight against cancer.

He was born Aug. 26, 1949 in Cleveland to the late Henry Sr. and Louis (Reith) Palmer and graduated from Buckeye High School and Ashland University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1970 having received the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam where he served from Dec. 1968 – Dec. 1969. He worked at Euclid Chemical and RDF Logistics in Lorain for the past 23 years and had made his home in Rittman since 1993 having previously residing in Doylestown. He was a member of the Rittman Moose Lodge, Wadsworth Eagles and the V.F.W. in Wadsworth. He loved riding his Harley, hunting, fishing and camping as well as flying planes and drones.

Surviving are his wife, the former Carlene “Corky” Ward whom he married on June 3, 2000; children, Andrew Charles Palmer and wife Ashley of Dayton, Tami Jacobs Fern and husband Scott of Rittman, Bill Jacobs and fiancé’ Renee of Canton, Adrienne Marshall of Columbus, Nick Flock and Angela of Rittman, Zack Flock of Rittman and Leslie Apple and husband Mike of Barberton; grandchildren, Sandi Richards, Brandan Fern, Christiana Jacobs and Sam Cat; great-granddaughter, Sofia Jacobs, brothers and sisters, Ruth Andrews of Cleveland, Arnella Smith of Medina, Donald Palmer of Medina, Ernest Palmer of Brunswick, Barbara Cook of Medina, Lenora Calabris of Wadsworth, Julia Oravetz of Brunswick, Charlotte Chaney of Wadsworth and Dennis Palmer of Medina; nieces and nephews and his best friend, Ellen Kay.

Services will be Monday, Oct. 31st at 11:30 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Isaac Little officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
