Henry E. Hershberger, 87, of 7739 County Road 189, Holmesville, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 8, 2016 after a sudden illness.
He was born Nov. 10, 1928 in Wayne County to Eli D. and Mattie (Miller) Hershberger and married Fannie Miller on Jan. 1, 1953. She survives. He had been a farmer and had later worked at Holmes Wheel Shop and was member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are his wife Fannie; sons and daughters-in-law, Emanuel and Katie Hershberger of Fredericksburg, Eli and Barbara Hershberger of Millersburg and Raymond and Katie Ann Hershberger of the home; 34 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; a brother, Eli (Alma) Hershberger of Millersburg; 3 sisters, Barbara (Davy) Wengerd of Dalton, Rebecca (Emanuel) Schrock of Kidron and Sarah (Noah) Hostetler of Sugar Creek; 4 half-brothers, Nathaniel (Amanda) Hershberger of Millersburg, Adam (Malinda) Hershberger of Fredericksburg, David (Ada) Hershberger of Baltic and Milo (Rosemary) Hershberger of Mountain View, OK and one half-sister, Katie (Andy) Miller of Apple Creek.
He was preceded in death by a son Jacob, a granddaughter, 2 great-grandchildren, a sister Mary, brothers, Jacob and Emanuel Hershberger; 4 half-brothers, Dan, Levi, Sam and Joni Hershberger, 2 half-sisters, Lovina and Amanda and 4 step-brothers, Ezra, Joe, Abe and Elmer Schmucker.
Services will be Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Residence with Bishop Alvin J. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Hershberger Cemetery. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements.
