Helen Leona (Sigler) Weltmer

Helen Leona Weltmer, 83, of Fredericksburg passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Glendora Health Care Center in Wooster after a brief illness.

Helen was born on Aug. 18, 1939 near Lakeville to the late Harry and Zelphia (Etzweiler) Sigler and married Gary E. Weltmer on Nov. 30, 1958.  He preceded her in death on June 8, 2022.  She had worked for several years in the Housekeeping and Landry Depts. at Wooster Community Hospital and had made her home in Fredericksburg since 1970.  Helen enjoyed sewing and crocheting, having made beautiful Christmas tree decorations, and was a wonderful baker.  She always enjoyed time with grandkids and she was  “Grandma” to many kids.

Surviving are her son, Christopher Weltmer of Fredericksburg; daughter, Lisa Marie Chupp of Fredericksburg; daughter-in-law, Donna Weltmer, 7 grandchildren including adopted granddaughter, Misty (Tony) Shinn who he and Helen raised and 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, sons, Edwin and Kevin, son-in-law, Raymond Chupp, brothers, Clifford, Lemoine, Kenneth, Howard, Donald, Robert, and Roy Sigler and sisters, Bessie Yacapraro Opal Croskey, Bernice Lisle and Margaret Sigler

Services will be Saturday, March 11th at 12:00 noon at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 until time of services at 12:00.
