Hazel R. Carey

Hazel R. Carey, 92, of Wooster, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, April 29, 2024 with her family at her side after a period of declining health. Hazel was born on March 10, 1932 in Kenova, WV to the late Herman and Louise (Riggs) Harmon and married Joseph Malcuit on Feb. 5, 1951.  He preceded her in death on July 2, 1971. She worked at several businesses including Rubbermaid, eventually retiring from Martin Interiors.  Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family.  She also enjoyed many hobbies including baking, knitting, crocheting, wood crafts as well as traveling.  She was a long time member of West Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are her four children and their spouses, Brenda Malcuit of Orrville, Vicki and Craig Zimmer of Apple Creek, Connie and Jennings Carpenter of Marshallville and John and Jeanne Malcuit of Riverside, CA; grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan Malcuit, Christopher and Julia Zimmer, Bryan and Mindy Zimmer, Brett and Mary Carpenter, Adrienne and Jeremy Flanders, Taylor and Chris Purdy, Beau and Abby Carpenter, Matthew and Crystal Malcuit and Megan and Brandon Mannisto;  20 great-grandchildren; sister, Herma Lou McGarity of White Hall, AR and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and brothers and sisters, Paul, Willard and Ralph Harmon, Mildred Jackson, Pansy Dean and Hilda Stinson and an infant brother. Services will be Friday, May 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Pastors Eric Fairhurst and Dan Wingate officiating.  Burial will be in St. Genevieve Cemetery.  Friends may call one hour prior to services on Friday.  The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of West View Healthy Living and Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare for the wonderful care given to their Mother and Grandmother
