Harley B. Dawson, 87, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1935 in Clay County, WV to the late Charlie and Goldie (Beckett) Dawson. He had been a backhoe operator, semi-truck driver and dump truck driver having worked for Jay Stout for many years. Harley loved old cars and enjoyed going to car shows and parades and he truly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Beverly; his 8 children, Patricia (Mike) Burman of Florida, Michael (Noreen) Dawson of Shreve, Darrell Lewis of Orrville, David (Cecilia) Lewis of South Carolina, Robert (Stephanie) Lewis of Florida, and Susan (Jim) Elser, Ronnie (Kelly) Rastetter and Sheryl (Rudy) Cooper all of Wooster; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Elsie Fishburn, Dennis (Jeanette) Dawson, George (Barbara) Dawson, Cecil (Carol) Dawson, Lloyd (Diane) Dawson, Betty Summers, Bonnie (Jerry) Kurzen and Barbara (John) Miller and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Harli Cooper, brothers, Lyman, Norval “Toad”, Bill and Richard and a sister, Linda Justice.
A celebration of Harley’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 who took wonderful care of Harley. Murray Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
