Grace Arlene Speelman

Blessed is the life that finds joy in the journey.  Grace Arlene Speelman, 91, of Fredericksburg passed away on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 at West View Healthy Living in Wooster after a period of declining health.

Grace was born March 11, 1929 in Fredericksburg to the late William and Erma (Foster) Herron and married Laddie Speelman on Feb. 17, 1946.  Laddie preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1999.  Grace had made her home in Fredericksburg all of her life and was a member of Fredericksburg Church of Christ where she had served as the Church Secretary and taught Sunday School.  She had formerly been a member of the Holmesville Church of Christ.  Grace's many years of volunteer service were with Round Lake Christian Camp, the Red Cross Blood Mobile and the Fredericksburg Homecoming.   She enjoyed doing counted cross stitching, reading and doing puzzles and word searches.  Grace will be remembered for always caring for others and she will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Mary and Myron Maurer and Paul and Kathy Speelman of Fredericksburg; son-in-law, Jim Vacha; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Susan Maurer, Marilynn and David Faught, Mark and Jennifer Maurer, Paul David and Kelly Speelman and Jennafer and Dustin Flinner; step-grandsons, Jim, John, Jerry and Joe Vacha; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Laura Vacha, her father William Herron, her mother, Erma Herald and a brother, Calvin Herron.

Private family services will be held on Thursday with burial at Fredericksburg West Cemetery.  There will be no calling hours.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Round Lake Christian Camp, Fredericksburg Church of Christ or to LifeCare Hospice.  The family extends their deepest appreciation and thanks to the staff of Westview Healthy Living and LifeCare Hospice for the wonderful care given to Grace.
