Gloria Ann Yoh, 74, of Kidron and formerly of Smithville and Moreland, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024. She had been battling cancer for the past year.
Gloria was born on Nov. 2, 1949 in Wooster to Dean H. and Verena M. (Tschiegg) Bricker and was a 1968 graduate of Triway High School. She graduated from Bluffton College in 1972 and later received her Master’s Degree from Ashland University. On Aug. 12, 1972 she married Maynard E. Yoh at the Fredericksburg Church of Christ and Maynard preceded her in death on July 9, 2016. Gloria first taught at the Holmes County Training Center and then spent most of her career at Triway Local Schools having taught at Wooster Township when she retired in 2012. She was a member of Grace Church in Wooster and the Women of Grace and had been a former member of Ripley Church of Christ where she had been a youth leader. She was an active member of the Smithville Ruritan Club where she had held various offices, was a member of the Wayne County Retired Teachers Assoc., and the Moreland Historical Society. She had been a 4-H advisor and in her retirement volunteered at MCC Connections in Kidron and CAMO in Orrville. She had been a founding member of Mothers of Twins in Wayne County and a supporter of Ballet Wooster’s Nutcracker Productions. Gloria and Maynard were avid travelers and she enjoyed scrapbooking and supporting and visiting her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Jeremy and Erin Yoh of Dalton, Jennifer and Arturo Quiñones of Brooklyn, NY and Jason and Niki Yoh of Minnetonka, MN; her five grandchildren, Madison, Ellie, Theo, Miles and Zadie; her brother and sisters, David and Marianne Bricker of Moreland, Diane and Jim Sommer of Palm Coast, FL, Lisa Costello of Liberty Hills, TX and Julia and Steve Gaumer of Moreland; her in-laws, Mark and Brenda Yoh, Judy and Ned Scheer and Lois and Ken Richard and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held on Friday, Aug. 23rd at 11:30 a.m. at the Student Center at Grace Church in Wooster with Pastor Bob Fetterhoff officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Student Center at the church. Please use the north end entrance.
