Geraldine F. (Lombardy) Ace

Geraldine F. Ace, 98, of Wooster and formerly of Painesville, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at West View Healthy Living Center in Wooster.

Gerry  was born on March 2, 1926 in Painesville to the late Andrew and Mary (Cardina) Lombardy and married Edward E. Ace on Aug. 4, 1974.  Ed preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2001.  Gerry had worked in retail and in factories and had been a bus driver for Madison Local Schools.  She had been a 4-H advisor, having been an excellent seamstress.  There was nothing she couldn’t create and had made animal quilts for each of her grandchildren.  Gerry always enjoyed family celebrations, birthday and holiday gatherings where when all the family was together, they would all try to out talk each other.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Smithville where she loved cooking and serving the Wednesday night dinners.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Dennis and Diann Spring of Madison, OH, Kenneth and Mary Etta Spring of Willis, TX and Denise and Glen Sayre of Clinton, OH; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters and their spouse, Andy and Nancy Lombardy of Madison, OH, Chuck and Donna Lombardy of Concord, OH, Judy and Jack Bradenbaugh of Painesville and Rita and Jerry Van Ness of Mentor and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her first husband, Fred A. Spring and brothers and sisters, Donald and Rosemary Lombardy, Nick and Joanne Lombardy, Marie and Victor Puleo, Theresa and Harold Fleming and Dolores Bradenbaugh.

Memorial services will be Saturday, April 6th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 777 S Summit St, Smithville, OH 44677 with Pastor Kristy Buyok officiating.  Burial will be at a later date at Perry Township Cemetery in Lake County.  Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.  Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
