Georgia Ann Widmer, 84, of Wooster and formerly of Sterling, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, following a period of declining health.
Georgia was born on March 9, 1942, in Wadsworth to Fred and Helen (Landes) West, and was a 1960 graduate of Norwayne High School. On May 27, 1961, she married Addison Widmer and they had made their home near Sterling for 62 years before moving to Wooster two years ago. Georgia had worked at Hawkins Market and at Smithville-Western Commons. Georgia enjoyed golfing and traveling with friends and making quilts for her grandchildren as well as attending their sporting and school events. She was a member of East Chippewa Church of the Brethren.
Surviving is her husband, Addie; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Dave Jarrett and Tina and Jay Benedict; 5 grandchildren, Luke and his wife Amanda Benedict, Liza and her husband Grant Johnson, Andrew Jarrett, Megan Jarrett and her fiancé Jordan Kenney and Seth Jarrett; 3 great-grandchildren, Carolyn Benedict and Ophelia and Otto Johnson; sisters-in-law, Marlene Widmer and Jeanie Stoller and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Melvin Stocksdale, Evelyn and Joe Gresser, Eleanor and Dean Berkey and Shirley and Donald Leathers; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marg and Dale Everhard, Joe Widmer, Robert and Joann Widmer, Harold and Carole Widmer, Dale and Joanne Widmer and Harlan Stoller.
Services will be Saturday, June 27th at 11:00 a.m. at East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 7207 Chippewa Rd., Orrville, OH 44667 with Pastor Mike Huffaker officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends following the services in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to East Chippewa Church of the Brethren. Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
