Gary Orris Kitchen, 86, of Wooster, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at West View Healthy Living with his loving wife at his side.
Gary was born on June 13, 1940, in Clearfield, PA to Orris P. and Dorothy M. (Hutton) Kitchen and was a 1958 graduate of Shreve High School. From 1958 – 1961 he served in the U.S. Army and following his discharge from the Army, he began his career at Rexroth in Wooster where he worked for over 45 years. On July 13, 1964, he married Evelyn Jackson who survives, and they enjoyed spending the Winters in Texas for 15 years. Gary was a member of Wooster Nazarene Church and the Wooster Elks. He was an avid golfer, having enjoyed repairing and making golf clubs, and had enjoyed hunting and bowling over the years.
Surviving is his wife, Evelyn of 62 years, a sister, Sherry Turner of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his son, Jarod Scott Kitchen in 1992 and his parents.
Friends may call on Saturday, Aug. 1st from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Jeremy Stasiowski will conduct services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with burial following at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave., Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814 or to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
