Gary Wallace Kelling, 88, of Westfield Center, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024 at Autumnwood Nursing Center in Rittman after a period of declining health.
Gary was born on March 18, 1936 in Cleveland to Louis and Helen (Eyring) Kelling and married Sandra J. Chrisman in Angola, IN on May 24, 1957 who survives. He graduated from North Ridgeville High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 – 1958. Gary retired from the General Motors, Parma Plant and was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medina and the Sons of the American Revolution. He had been a Little League Baseball Coach in Lodi and a coach for the Blue Raiders Pee Wee Football in Seville.
Surviving is his wife, Sandy of 67 years; his children; Michael (Cindy Lamphier) Kelling of Lakeville, Marcia (Brett) Urian of Wooster and James (Barbara) Kelling of Creston; grandchildren, Laura (Philip) DeMont, Lisa Urian, Amanda Urian, Amy Urian, Matthew Urian, Andrew (Jessica) Kelling, Dirk (Niki) Kelling, Jennifer (Joe Papp) Kelling, Brant Kelling, David (Kinga) Lamphier and Chris (Elise) Lamphier; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Kathy Minor and a nephew, Craig (Karen) Kelling.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Helen and Frank Donaldson, his father, Louis and brothers, Roger and Wayne.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to Dennis from Fresenius Kidney Center in Medina for his friendship and to the staff of Autumnwood Care Center for their care given to Gary during his brief stay.
Service and Military Honors will be Monday, Sept. 2nd at 10:15 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with Pastor Steve Mahaffey officiating. Friends and family may meet at Murray Funeral Home, 173 S. Main St., Creston, OH at 9:15 a.m. for the procession to the cemetery.
