Gary L. Coffing, 59, of Wooster, went home to be with his Savior on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Wooster Community Hospital after an apparent heart attack.
Gary was born April 2, 1957 in Mount Vernon to Lloyd and Marie (Beckley) Coffing and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1975. He later graduated from Ohio State University, A.T.I. in Wooster where he then worked for nearly 31 years as the Crops Manager at the A.T.I. Farm, retiring in 2008. Gary had made his home in the Orrville and Wooster area since 1977 and was an active member of the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church. Gary was passionate about sharing the word of the Lord and led a weekly Bible Study at the church. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, gardening and working in the yard as well as traveling and attending Ohio County Fairs. Gary was a big Ohio State Buckeye fan and he will be remembered for his wonderful smile and laugh.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Nancy Brooker whom he married on July 3, 2004; his mother, Marie Coffing of Mount. Vernon; sisters and brother, Lou Ann Coffing of Columbus; Connie (Bill) McMurtry and Randy (Bonnie) Coffing both of Mount Vernon; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lynn (Mike) Reynolds of Creston, Mike (Joan) Brooker of Medina and Bob (Jenny) Brooker of Marshallville and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd in 2014.
Friends may call Thursday from 3-5 p.m. at the Church of the Cross, United Methodist Church where Rev. Kris Patt will conduct services at 5:00 p.m. of Thursday. A family burial services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Marshallville.
