Frederick R. VanNewkirk, 74, of Brunswick, passed peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2019 after a lengthy battle with failing health.
Fred was born Oct. 16, 1944 in Cleveland to the late Fred and Neatha (Hoskins) VanNewkirk and was a 1964 graduate of Brunswick High School. On June 24, 1967 he married the former Candy (Karen) Mintz and she survives. He had been a truck driver for many years and after raising his family in Brunswick moved to his “Follow Your Dreams” Farm near Lakeville. He recently moved back to Brunswick and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Fred was a life member of the NRA and enjoyed history, photography and anything truck related.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Candy; his seven children, Collin (Cathy) VanNewkirk, Vince VanNewkirk, Dawn (Andy) Hanes, Shane VanNewkirk, Holly (John) Daniel, Dave VanNewkirk and Pete VanNewkirk; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Emerson and nieces and nephews.
