Frederick R. Hookway, 77, of Creston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 at Altercare of Wadsworth following a brief illness.
Fred was born April 17, 1939 in Wadsworth to the late William R. and Hilda (Adams) Hookway and was a 1957 graduate of Norwayne High School. On Jan. 27, 1962 he married and the former Betsy Ann Klepper and she survives. He retired from Buehlers in Wooster after 32 years of services and was a member of the Wadsworth Church of the Nazarene. Fred had made his home in Creston all of his life and enjoyed gardening, caring for his yard, feeding the birds, collecting stamps and watching NASCAR. He always enjoyed his mornings a Pike Station having coffee and visiting with friends.
Surviving are his wife, Betsy of 55 years, his son, Kevin Hookway of Creston; son-in-law Don Rinehart of Bellville, grandsons, Zachary Hookway and Joshua Hookway; a great-granddaughter, Riley Hookway; a brother Robert (Emily) Hookway of Creston and a brother-in-law, Gary (Marty) Klepper of Wooster and nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Robin Rinehart died previously.
Services will be Sunday, Jan. 29th at 4:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Raynard L. Martin officiating. A family burial service will be in Canaan Cemetery.
