Fred Stewart Smith

Fred Stewart Smith, 79, of Wooster, passed away  unexpectedly on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Akron General Medical Center.

Fred was born on Dec. 5, 1944 in Akron, to Floyd F. And Lyoma Leona (Thomas) Smith and was a graduate of Kenmore High School.  He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 30, 1961 - Dec. 16, 1964 and retired from Akron Press.  In his retirement, he became a “Professional Driver" for Enterprise in Arizona and had made his home between Ohio and Arizona most of his life. Fred was an active man who loved hunting, shooting, hiking and sports.  He enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and going to flea markets and yard sales.  He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his children, Roger Smith of Buckeye,AZ and Christina Gallion of Lakeville; grandchildren, Casey Watson, Patrick Gannon, Courtney (Mitch) Maldonado, Brent Delong and Cody Stewart (Megan) Smith and a sister, Joyce England of Mesa, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Brown.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be Saturday, August. 24th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home, 173 S. Main St., Creston, OH 44217.
