Evelyn Marie James, 82, of Wooster, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at Aultman Hospital in Canton after a brief illness.
Evelyn was born Dec. 24, 1935 in Rittman to the late Harley and Maud (Zimmerly) Kane and was a 1954 graduate of Norwayne High School. On June 29, 1957 she married William Forrest James and he survives. She retired from Lightning Rod Mutual Insurance and had previously worked at Mr. Wiggs, Value Center and Jean Frocks. She had assisted her husband in operating James Photography for 20 years and in her retirement had worked part time as a demonstrator at Buehlers. Evelyn was a member of the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, traveling and family gatherings.
Surviving are her husband, Forrest; sons, Michael (Bonnie) James of Wooster, Ronald (Stephine) James of New Philadelphia and Owen (Christy) James of Wooster; grandchildren, Katheryn (Trey) Blanco, Marjorie (John) Scott, William (Shaylyn) James, Bryan James, Adam James and Steven James and a great-granddaughter, Justice James.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister and a sister, Alice Metsker.
Memorial services will be Thursday, Feb. 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, 5100 Cleveland Rd., Wooster with Pastor Kristen Patt officiating. A family interment service will be held at Moreland Cemetery at a later date.
