Eric Jason Smith

Eric Jason Smith, 36, of Akron passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at Akron City Hospital after a brief illness.

Eric was born in Medina, Ohio to Howard Jr. “Ron” and Lynn (Emmons) Smith. Eric graduated from Norwayne High School in 2006 and after graduation worked as a general contractor in the construction industry. He will be remembered for being remarkably multi-talented with his work, having a big heart, and overcoming the battles that he faced in his young life.

Eric is survived by his mother, Lynn Smith of Akron; brother, Brett Smith of Akron; children, Jace and Samantha; maternal grandparents, Nettie Emmons of Burbank and Neal Emmons of Warrenton, GA; his fiancé, Brandy Chilton of Akron and her children, Malena and Natalie who he adored as his own; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ron and his paternal grandparents, Howard Sr. and Mary Smith.

Services will be on Saturday Feb. 1, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services.
