Elizabeth Caroline Herman, 91, of Fredericksburg, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020 at West View Healthy Living in Wooster after a period of declining health.

Liz was born March 8, 1929 in Chardon, OH to the late Louis Sr. and Beryl (Maltbie) Pipher and had attended Shreve High School.  On Dec. 18, 1948 she married Harry A. Herman and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2007.  They are now together again.  She had been the head cook at Fredericksburg School  for 10 years and had previously sold Avon and worked at the former Noble Shoe Store in Wooster.  A resident of Fredericksburg since 1948, she was active in the Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church where she served on the Women’s Task Force, sang in the choir, served as a Deacon and Elder and was a member of the 20/40 Club as well as helped with the Youth Group.  In the community, Liz was active in the Waynedale Athletic and Music Booster Clubs, worked on the Election Board and worked at the annual Fredericksburg Homecoming.  She enjoyed playing the dulcimer but her family was her great enjoyment.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Barb and Bob Sprunger of Dalton and Jerry and Connie Herman of Fredericksburg; her grandchildren and their spouses, Brad and Kelly Herman, Amy and Mark Ostarchvic and Scott and Sarah Sprunger and five great-grandchildren, Brant, Cade and Gatlin Herman and Avery and Lorelei Ostarchvic.

She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant granddaughter, Abigail Sprunger; her parents, brothers, Joseph, Louis Jr. and Carl “Bud” and a sister, Beryl.

Private family services will be held on Thursday at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Pastor Jack McClelland officiating.   Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com   Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 or to the Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church, 288 N. Mill St., Fredericksburg, OH 44627.  The family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff at West View Healthy Living for the wonderful care given to their Mother and Grandmother of the past two years.
