D. Bruce Miller, a.k.a. Old Gringo a.k.a Broosdakopp, 82 years, of Wooster,OH passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020 at Wooster Community Hospital after a brief illness. Bruce was born Dec. 1, 1938 in New Meadows, Idaho to the late Douglas L. and Bonita (Wayne) Miller and was a graduate of Lincoln High School in San Jose, CA and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Police Science from Golden Gate University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 – 1962 and traveled Nationally for the Army’s Competition Pistol Team. On Aug. 1, 1969 he married Jeanette Paul and she survives. Bruce was a retired Police Officer having served in Napa, CA, after which he spent seventeen years in the snowy oilfields of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska as a security officer, and later managed the Security program at Bartlett High School in Anchorage, AK. He had made his home in Anchorage from 1981 – 2007 when he moved to Rittman and more recently to Wooster. Bruce made friends wherever he went and kept in touch with most of them throughout is life. He was an honorary life member of the Single Action Shooters Society (SASS), Alaska 49ers Chapter and the American Legion Post in Rittman. He loved to cook and he and Jeanette had written their own cookbook. He also wrote short stories under the name, Broosdakopp, and loved to regale family and friends with stories of his many adventures. Bruce was an avid motorcycle rider, loved Cowboy and Western History and Literature and was proud of his Irish Heritage. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette of 51 years; children, Brian Miller of Wooster, Brenda (Tim) Fairchild of Medina, Brett (Bonni) Miller of Rittman and Will (Coco) Miller of North Canton; grandchildren, Jonathan Miller, Nathaniel Miller, Nicole (David) Neuman-Nusinow; Christina Miller, Kimberly Fairchild, Hillary (Nate) Gilkerson, Axel Miller, and Gage Miller;11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores (Hal) McElroy of Aptos, CA and brothers, Bob (Laura) Miller of San Jose, CA and Bill (Lynn) Miller of Green Valley, AZ A Military Service will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
