Dortha Eileen Blake, 90, of Sterling died unexpected on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Dortha was born April 18, 1926 in Prichard, W.Va. to the late Ezra and Nettie (Mullins) Shannon and graduated from Buffalo High School. She married Jack Blake on July 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1991. She retired from Nabisco Brands in Seville after 18 years of service and had made her home in the Sterling area for many years. Dortha was an avid reader, enjoyed doing needle work and crocheting a doing word search puzzles. She was a big Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers fan and was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother.
Surviving are her children, Brenda (Lee) Hatch of Leesville, NC, Larry (Tracie) Blake of Smithville, David Blake of Creston, Steve (Cheryl) Blake of Shreve and Brian (Sherry) Blake of Wooster; daughter-in-law, Diana Blake of Sterling; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Ronald “Butch” Blake in 2014 and a brother, James Shannon.
Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Bob Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of services on Wednesday. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
