Donna B. (Lewis) Forrer

Donna B. Forrer, 92, of Rittman, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Smithville-Western Care Center after a period of declining health. Donna was born on Aug. 26, 1929 in Creston to the late Wayne and Violet (Steele) Lewis and was a 1947 graduate of Creston High School.  On Nov. 5, 1948 she married Elwood “Fuzz” Forrer and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1999.  Donna had been a real estate agent for Walker Realty and had worked at the Creston Post Office and drove school bus for Norwayne Schools. She had made her home in Creston prior to moving to Rittman over 35 years ago.  She was a faithful member of Rittman Community Freewill Baptist Church where she had served as the Treasurer, had helped start the Kiddie-Chat Mothers Club in Creston that raised funds for the first Kindergarten Class at Creston and was active in the Creston Community.  Donna and Fuzz fried fish for the Creston Fish Fry for many years and she was honored as a Creston Citizen of the Year in  1987 and they had played together with the Wayne County Mountain Dulcimers group.  She had been a poll worker for many years and was always honored to serve as a Presiding Judge at the polls. She will be greatly missed by her four children, Linda and husband Lanny Schaffter of Apple Creek, Ron Forrer and partner Bill Schweinsberg of Rittman, Betty Hoisington of Medina and Brenda and husband Ken Farmer of Rittman; four grandsons, Dean Schaffter, Mike Schaffter, Mark Hoisington and Brent Hoisington; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Larry Lewis of Seville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood, her parents, granddaughter-in-law, Sarah Hoisington and brothers, Don and Stanley Lewis. Services will be Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. John Castle officiating.  Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
