Daris Junior (Jobby) Metheney

Daris (Jobby) Metheney, 79, of Creston, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025.

He was September 11, 1945, in Chloe, WV, to the late Arley and Mamie Tanner Metheney.

Jobby worked for GM Motors for 40+ years, He enjoyed riding mules, going to stick sales, traveling with his late wife, but most importantly, being surrounded by his family. Til his last day he would tell you "I'm a spring chicken"

Those left to cherish his memory: his son Daris (Bub) Metheney, stepsons Jay and Jeff Burnside, grandchildren: Thomas (Tiffany) and Kimberly Metheney, Jessica (Jason) Goyette, Garrett, Nicholas, Ruby, and Jonathan Burnside; 5 great-grandchildren: Gloria, Waylon, Wesson Metheney, Jackson, Jacob Goyette; brothers: Troxal, Doy, James (Jim), and Timmy Dean Metheney; sisters: Louise Boggs and Tama Jarvis; several nieces, nephews and the many kids he treated like his own during his kids younger years.

In addition to his parents, Jobby is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jerry Metheney; daughter Reta Metheney Sharp; brothers Dale (Tinker), Orville (Bub) and Roy Metheney; sister, Eultheen (Pokie) Jarvis; and his best friend and cousin Carl Starcher and many more.

A memorial service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., 1440 Arnoldsburg Rd., Arnoldsburg, WV 25234, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with John Starkey officiating.
