Daniel A. “Danny” Hochstetler, 82, of 8503 Fredericksburg Road, Fredericksburg, OH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster after a period of declining health.

Danny was born on June 27, 1944, in Mount Eaton to Atlee and Emma (Yoder) Hochstetler and married Ruby W. Yoder on Sept. 18, 1969. Ruby preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2016. Danny was a retired farmer who enjoyed his mules and was a member of the Old Order Amish.

Surviving are his three daughters and sons-in-law; Anita Kay and Maynard Miller of Fredericksburg, Lori Ann and Les Miller of Fredericksburg and Leah Marie and Wayne Shetler of the home; 9 grandchildren and their spouses, Marcus and Leah Miller, Joshua and Arie Miller, Leanna and Reuben Miller, Emma and Braden Hershberger, Hailey Miller and special friend Zach, Ian Shetler and special friend Sue, Isaak Shetler, Anne and David Barkman and Rebecca Shetler; three great-grandchildren, Alayna, Hadassah and Luke Miller; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emanuel and Nettie Hochstetler of Holmesville and Roy and Amanda Hochstetler of Mount Eaton; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and Lester Miller of Millersburg, Betty Wengerd and Ida and Will Detweiler of Fredericksburg and sister-in-law, Katie Hochstetler of Fredericksburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; grandson, Anthony Shetler; his parents, brothers, Eli and Raymond Hochstetler, sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Crist Kurtz and brother-in-law, Alvin Wengerd.

Service will be Thursday, Sept. 17th at 9:00 a.m. at the Wayne Shetler Residence, 8549 Fredericksburg Rd., Fredericksburg with Minister Joe R. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Graber Road Cemetery. Friends may call any time after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the residence. Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements. The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare for the wonderful care given to Danny and to the family.
